Would have liked Young to have been given one more year as DC, especially with Monken moving on.

With Gundy's style of offense, a defense will always have bad numbers so to talk merely stats is a bit misleading.

Hard to recruit great defensive players with an offense like Okie State. At least Young had some very talented players and brought some stability on the defensive side after Tim Beckham left.

This year's failures to me started back in the spring when Gundy "fell in love" with Wes Lunt's potential and went with the true freshman verses Walsh or Chelf.

Lunt has a great future, but either of the two other QBs would have given Okie State a better chance to win in 2012 and get into the Big 12 schedule with no losses.

Lunt's poor play (which is to be expected out of a true freshman) against Arizona and Kansas State directly led to those defeats.

Anyway...2013 will be wide open in the Big 12 and just hope Gundy is focused on the task at hand. "I am 40 and I a MAN" stuff along with his pouting about non-conference scheduling (Savannah State...PLEASE), and his subsequent "no bones about it" interest in the Arkansas and Tennesee jobs, leaves me concerned that Okie State may not be as close to a consistent Big 12 Championship contender year and year out that they looked like back in 2010 and 2011.
