In Oklahoma, all you have to be is 18. The NCAA already stated as long as he was gambling at the casino tables and slot fine, there was no evidence of betting on sports.

This is doesn’t help our cause of attracting top-flight student/athletes to Carolina. To his credit, at least Stephen Garcia graduated and is straightening out his act. He has talent albeit much of it wasted due to his own actions. But I think it better to move on and focus on what we’ve accomplished the past two seasons. Stephen Garcia has been gone for three years now….

It’s stressful playing for a big-time program no matter who’s coaching. Nick’s an intense guy–like most coaches at this level–and I always liken his sideline wigouts to watching a rabid chiuaua on crack. When games are nail-bitingly close like that, I get extremely quiet and only cry when we win … so they probably were tears of joy or relief. Just because folks cry doesn’t mean they aren’t enjoying themselves in some bizarre way, and it certainly doesn’t mean they don’t know it’s only a game.

Huh? A.J. McCarron was sure doing a lot of high-fiveing and grinning after the championship game. I’ve never seen any Bama players crying on the sidelines, and they’re sure a happy bunch when you see them around town.

As for Johnny Football, I agree with most of the posts that–except for his summer disorderly conduct arrest–the kid hasn’t done anything that would concern me. But kudos to A&M for doing their best to protect him. Fame has put him in the media shark tank, and it’s great that he has coaches and an athletic director who want to help him navigate those rough waters.

Unfortunately, a large portion of the media in this country (not ALL of them, just a LOT of them) love the notion of building someone up so they can then tear them down. The scrutiny he’s going to have to now live under is going to be brutal. Every step he takes is going to be recorded on someone’s cell phone or some TV camera or some still camera… all in the interest of hoping he trips up. Pretty sad when you think about it. I hope he gets good ‘coaching’ from his parents, advisors, etc., that genuinely have his best interests at heart, and aren’t just hanging around him hoping to make a buck off of his fame.

My Wife and adult children ask me if you’ve posted anything lately. They ask me everyday so you are a hot item! And yes, rooster does its thing on PA. The Vegas spread before kick-off was 4.5 points for SC. We won by 5 (33-28) so they knew what they were talking about.
