Ex-UGA DB tweets he’s headed to Auburn as a QB

Nearly a year after being dismissed by Georgia following an off-field incident, Nick Marshall is apparently moving back to the conference from where he came.

In a tweet posted to his Twitter account, the defensive back wrote “I will be taking my talents bac [sic] to the SEC at the University of Auburn.” And, yes, Marshall apparently attended the Nick Saban School of Misidentifying AU as it’s technically “Auburn University.”

Regardless, it appears Marshall is headed to the Tigers, although the school has yet to confirm his addition to the football team. AuburnUndercover.com reported that Auburn should finish a review of Marshall’s transcripts by Wednesday.

If/when he does end up on The Plains, the player tweeted, he will be on the team as a quarterback. While he was recruited to UGA as a four-star athlete in 2011 and was listed as a defensive back, Marshall was at one point rated as the top QB prospect in the state of Georgia.

Marshall was one of three players dismissed by head coach Mark Richt Feb. 3 of last year for violating unspecified team rules. At the time, an Atlanta television reported that Marshall and wide receiver Sanford Seay television station reported that the two allegedly stole $500 in money and valuables from a teammate.

No charges were ever filed related to that alleged incident.

As a true freshman in 2011, Marshall played in 13 games, mainly on special teams. He spent last season at Garden City Community College in Kansas.

In just 11 games in his lone season at the JUCO level, Marshall accounted for 4,181 yards of total offense (3,122 passing, 1,059 rushing) and 37 touchdowns (18 passing, 19 rushing).
