Report: Jacoby Brissett transferring to NC State

After being turned away by his top choice, Jacoby Brissett reportedly has found a new college football home.

According to Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post, Brissett has decided he will be transferring to and continuing his playing career at North Carolina State. Brissett was recruiting heavily a couple of years ago by Wisconsin, and their defensive coordinator at the time, Dave Doeren, is now the Wolfpack’s head coach.

The quarterback announced earlier this month that he would be transferring from Florida. Lieser writes that "[w]hen Brissett looked to transfer, he had a list of nine schools and trimmed it to N.C. State and West Virginia.” Also included on that original list were the likes of Arkansas, Louisville, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Duke and Clemson.

Brissett’s high school coach told the Miami Herald over the weekend that his former player wanted to transfer to Miami, but that he was told there was no room on the roster for another quarterback.

A four-star member of UF’s 2011 recruiting class, and rated by Rivals.com as the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country, Brissett lost a battle for the starting quarterback job that began in the spring of last year and continued into summer camp to Jeff Driskel.
