APLess than a week after it was announced he was transferring from Iowa State, Jared Barnett has semi-officially found a new campus on which to ply his football wares.
In a tweet posted to his Twitter account, Barnett wrote that he will be transferring to Illinois State to continue his playing career. Based on the tweet, Barnett will be on-campus within the next few days, although the school has yet to confirm his impending enrollment.
The quarterback also confirmed the decision to the Des Moines Register.
“I just went on a visit,” Barnett told the paper. “I really liked the town and I liked the facilities. Most of all, I liked all of the coaches a lot.”
As Illinois State is an FCS program, Barnett will be eligible to play immediately in 2013. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Barnett started nine games the past two seasons for the Cyclones, three in 2012 and six in 2011. His most memorable performance came against Oklahoma State in November 2011, throwing for 376 yards and three touchdowns in a win that prevented the then-No. 2 Cowboys from playing in last year’s BCS championship game.
He finished his ISU career with 1,825 yards and 12 touchdowns
