APFrom one bizarre story to dredging up another, another person has been charged in connection to an attack on former Wisconsin running back Montee Ball.
Per the Associated Press, a warrant was issued for the arrest of 27-year-old Karlis Griffin for substantial battery. The complaint states that Griffin stomped on Ball’s head during the attack. Three others have already been charged in the incident with two pleading guilty last month.
Griffin is not a University of Wisconsin student, according to the report.
Ball, a senior Doak Walker Award winner, suffered a concussion and a bruised jaw in the assault and missed the first week of preseason camp. The original police report stated Ball was attacked by five individuals. Ball has stated multiple times he did not know the identities of the assailants or why he was attacked. Police had looked into a possible precipitating event — a late July fight at a party involving two members of the Wisconsin football team — to see if there was a connection to the attack.
Ball finished the year with 1,730 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Oh yeaaahhh….lot’s of comments here! It’s all about Manti Te’o.
@thegamecocker: We like you as a commenter, but you might want to take it down a notch or 12. Just sayin’.
Amen John, when somethin like this happens it makes my blood boil and not to mention feel that somewhere there ought to be different pentalties for those that involve student athletes. For one thing those guys that are on the receiveing end that are innocent run the risk of havin their chances of further playin time jeporadized whether it be at the college level or onto the Pro level. I’m just sayin.
I suggest they put each of them in a room with Monte and lock the door. One at a time of course. Give Ball a chance to exact some revenge.
Typical cowardly behavior. 5 vs 1 and sucker punches is how thugs fight.
To the group who doubted Monte was actually not part of this attack on himself or suggested that he was “returning to the hood to get drugs” or other such drivvle, one of you has apologized but the rest continue to hide behind their racist and bigoted remarks. Sad.
This not only is vindication for Monte but also for justice.
stevequinn: That’s a good idea, but what I know of Monte is quite a gentleman. I think perhaps it may be better to turn the soon-to-be felons over to his offensive line. I don’t think they would be kind.
Some years back a player was assaulted by some thugs and thankfully his team was coming along behind him and the WRs caught the thugs and the defensive and offensive linemen taught them a lesson before someone called the police.
Best to Monte, who apparently recovered extraordinarily well with his records this past season and may the thugs all truly get what they deserve.
@JohnTaylor
My disdain for ND and their “holier than thou” position sets me off at times. However a word to the wise is sufficient in this case. I will tone down a bit….or 12.
thegamecocker:
As I posted previously from a lead from the family of southernpatriots about ND’s coverup and excusing of sexual assaults by players upon female students resulted in a strong voice for ND, a ND alum and now a writer for a DC paper, no longer supporting ND football or athletics. The Irish certainly have no cause to be “holier than thou” with that mess and now the Manti lies and deceptions, along with a huge number of priestly pedophiles….ugh…what a mess!
