Ole Miss lands verbal from Class of 2013’s top WR

With National Signing Day fast approaching, an SEC school that doesn’t rhyme with “Schmalabama” has (verbally) landed one of the biggest fishes in the 2013 recruiting pond.

In a televised press conference from his Crete (Ill.) Monee High School, Laquon Treadwell announced that he has verbally committed to Ole Miss. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State were also in the wide receiver’s top three.

“I just love everything about Ole Miss,” the receiver said. “I love what Coach [Hugh] Freeze is doing. He’s always positive and is a great role model for his players.”

While the commitment was far from a surprise as Treadwell has been considered a heavy lean toward Oxford, it’s a huge get nonetheless for Hugh Freeze and his staff.

The 6-3, 198-pound Treadwell is rated as the top player in the state of Illinois by Rivals.com and 24/7Sports.com, with the former rating him as the No. 1 receiver in the country and the latter No. 3. Rivals also has Treadwell rated as the No. 10 player at any position in the Class of 2013.
