Duklover, while I agree with your last part that U$C still sucks, you’re quite wrong about the record. You had a better head coach than we did. Clancy had less to work with and your defense was on the field a lot less due to CAL’s inept offense. yet, he did a great job with a few exceptions. I will say this though. Clancy’s not the best motivator. There were stories that he barely spoke to players and let his team quit when games weren’t going well.

Who would want to give up stable employment to work for Lane Kiffin? He’ll need probably 10 wins to have any hope at saving his job while a more talented squad this year managed 7 under his, er, leadership.

Nobody wants to take a 1 year coordinator gig. Since it’s no secret that Kiffen will get pink-slipped at then end of next season.

It sounds like Kiffin/USC is still reaching out, that said Clancy Pendergast is far and away a better choice than Aliotti. Aliotti has been at Oregon 21 years and despite his entrenchment, his offense was at best average and never ranked much higher than 40th. In fact early in the season after Oregon went through their cupcake early season schedule that were all played in their home stadium they were ranked in the 90′s. Definitely not someone to turn to to build an defense.

Me thinks this was a ploy on Aliotti’s part to get attention of the Oregon AD that there was outside interest with the objective of getting looked at for the Oregon HC job.
