Surgery sidelines Georgia lineman for spring

Shoulder surgery will delay the start of this year’s practices for Georgia offensive lineman Chris Burnette. Via his Twitter account, Burnette said that he underwent shoulder surgery.

“Thanks everybody for the prayers. Shoulder is feeling better already. Long road to recovery but I’ll be back and better than ever!” Burnette said.

UGA confirmed to the Athens Ledger-Enquirer that Burnette had a torn labrum and will miss spring practice recovering from surgery. The recovery should not, however, impact preseason practice or the start of the season for Burnette.

Burnette is a two-year starter along the Bulldogs’ offensive line and will be expected to start again in 2013.
