But something must have rolled my way after all my chippy complaints to the home office. I logged on today to discover all my censored posts had reappeared. Well … not all of them. The sarcastic asides to the moderators aren’t there, but all the football posts have been resurrected

I am more comfortable with the core group here, the ones that discuss college football and aren’t here to make snide remarks.

I send in comments that never appear, but if they only posted comments that added to the conversation, there wouldn’t be much.

Speaking of worms … I am having such a run with the censors on PFT. I posted re this on Florio’s article about the transcripts, but they censored my comment. I rewrote it three times and they censored it every time. I posted a comment on undrafted free agents after yours on the free agent thread, and they censored that, too.

So … on a recent Crabtree thread, I posted:

Did you actually want us to comment on this? I’ve been censored so many times I’m beginning to think the submit button is an order to surrender our souls rather than a solicitation for comments.

Well … somehow that comment got through. And it got at least 50 thumbs up before they copped on and removed it LOL

What’s interesting in reading the interview transcript is that Coach Kelly is the one who went public with the tragic girlfriend story–not Te’o. Apparently he didn’t even know the Coach was going public with his story. Then when he went to the coach to tell him something was wrong, Kelly’s response was “she’s dead. That’s how we’re going to go about it. She’s dead.” So it seems he may have kept talking about her as his tragic dead girlfriend after learning otherwise because his coach ordered him to do that.

If you take different dates after the fact and peice them all together after the fact, I would say you will uncover inaccuracies and inconsistencies, but witness testimony is the most inaccurate evidence in court, so to say he’s guilty in this court of public opinion based on previous words is not fair. That’s what I’m saying. I personally think he has allowed the media and fear to sway his choice of words and in that he is absolutely complicit and even very responsible for his words. Aren’t we all? But I don’t think his intentions are as malicious as many here so easily post about.

You’re not making any sense. Te’o isn’t being forced to remember what he said on a given date. The timeline is being provided by Notre Dame’s Athletic Director, who kept a log of their conversation, and the dates various media reports appeared. The AD logged that Te’o told him he knew the story was a hoax on December 26. But Te’o continued telling the false story to the media during the Heisman ceremony after December 26 and a CBS news story on his “tragedy” appeared the week of the championship game.

This isn’t rocket science and no one is putting words in his mouth. He kept telling the story about the fake dead girlfriend after telling Notre Dame he’d been hoodwinked. And Notre Dame let him keep telling that story. This is one big university-sanctioned con … and you’d have to be a fool not to see that.

One would think Notre dame would’ve stayed away.

Seems that reporter says he has tapes of manti saying he met her in person.

Regardless of that, he knew it was a hoax in early December but get perpetuating her existence thereafter even though he knew she didn’t. That’s still quite shameful. Notre Dame did the same as well. That’s also quite shameful.

Te’o falls for the fake girlfriend. Finds out that his friend was screwing with him. Grandma dies. Someone has the bright idea of “hey, let’s have your fake girlfriend die too so it would be like DOUBLE TRAGEDY.” Milks the living hell out of the story. Crocodile tears, describes the most awesomest person he could imagine.

Family members now get questioned by the media. Family members note that nobody gives a crap about his dead grandma, and instead want to know about some girl he was supposedly dating who fell over and died. Family members now start saying how awesome fakegirlfriend was and how they met her and blahblahblahfakecry so they bask in the awesomeness of having their faces plastered over the local media, catapulting them into local celebrity status. If they didn’t want their faces all over the media, they wouldn’t have talked to the press and been all “go away, give us privacy” or better yet, “never met the girl.” Anyways, yay, attention! Random strangers are walking up to them and all “OMGSOSAD ” The fact that people recognize them from the paper/tv makes them feel awesome and cool. Random strangers don’t recognize you on the street unless you’re *famous.*

Aw shucks, he didn’t get the Heisman, back to daily lives.

Family members are now hiding from the media being all “omg give us privacy, these are tough times!” (they didn’t want privacy when they were grieving a fake dead girlfriend, or grandma for that matter!).

In the mean time, random people on the internet now want to be internetfamous and being all “So my sister’s ex-boyfriends fiance’s step-brother’s cousin totally met the guy and yeah, he’s a dick” and are making frontpage headlines.

I love the media machine.

Student videographer gets killed and football practice still goes on., Feign sorrow, bus the team to the funeral, cry crocodile tears, settle with the family, seal the records.

Liz Seeberg is allegedly raped by Prince Shembo. ND police slow walk an investigation, gives a heads up to an influential ND alum who just happens to be a top plaintiff attorney in Chicago who represents Shembo pro bono BEFORE the police even interview the suspects 9 days after the alleged assault. Never mind the threats of intimidation from the suspect’s
friends telling Liz Seeberg “Don’t mess with ND football!”

Think about it, the AD shed more tears for a fake woman than for Liz Seeberg.

T’eo is a joke and ND held that news conference to separate from T’eo and protect the brand.

The Investigators (paid by ND) will manufacture anything to protect the brand. Two people just happen to come forward AFTER the news breaks? Yeah, right. Remember, ND sent investigators to the school attended by Liz Seeberg prior to Saint Mary’s to try to get her friends there to confirm that Liz was suicidal. ND is not to be trusted from President Jenkins (who still hasn’t met with the Seeberg family) on down.

ND supporters should be up in arms about the Seeberg incident, but will be more excited about National Signing
Day to see what new dupes and new alleged rapists will being playing for ND next fall.

Notre Dame is pathetic

For everyone saying that Manti was in on the hoax and did it to boost his Heisman campaign, are you serious? Twitter contact between Manti and Kekua began in late 2011. Are you suggesting that Manti and some guy he sort of knew conspired to create a person and have her die during the 2012 season to boost his Heisman campaign? I can’t believe that. If this was true, there would likely be something in his past to suggest he’s capable of such manipulation, but his past is filled with evidence to the contrary. I think Te’o really thought he loved this girl. He loved her story, he loved her spirit, and he loved her motivational words about loving God and being humble.

What Te’o is guilty of is playing her up as his girlfriend when she was actually just an online persona he had an emotional connection with. He should have mentioned that they never met but I believe he was both too embarrassed to say so, and he knew that saying so wouldn’t make his story as heartbreaking or even heartbreaking at all. But the idea that he was in on it is absurd. There’s no actual evidence and no evidence in his character to suggest he was in on it
