Florida suspends O-lineman Jessamen Dunker

Following up briefly on a story that’s been going on the past couple of days, Florida has announced that redshirt freshman offensive lineman Jessamen Dunker has been suspended indefinitely.

Dunker was hit with charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and a non-moving traffic violation on Wednesday after being pulled over by police for riding on a scooter that was not tagged. The scooter was determined to be stolen by police. Dunker was released from jail the following day.

“I met with Jessamen Dunker this morning and I suspended him from all team activities until we get more information,” coach Will Muschamp said in a statement. “I have been on the road. I just met face-to-face with him this morning for the first time for about 15 minutes. Once we get a little more information, we’ll move forward, but he’s suspended from the team at this time. We’ll address that further when I know more.”

Dunker’s attorney, Huntley Johnson, claims his client said he bought the scooter for $600 and was not aware that it was stolen.

Dunker did not play for the Gators in 2012, but was expected to compete for time this year.
