APOver seven weeks after his official hire, Sonny Dykes has put the finishing touches on his first Cal Coaching staff.
The former Louisiana Tech head coach confirmed via a press release Wednesday night that he has hired Garret Chachere and Zach Yenser as the eighth and ninth assistant coaches. The latter will serve as offensive line coach, while the former will handle defensive ends.
“We are excited that we have completed the process of hiring our coaching staff,” Dykes said in a statement. “We have a talented and skilled group of coaches that is like-minded and shares the same vision for Cal football, and we are confident that they will provide our student-athletes with the best resources and opportunity to succeed.”
Prior to his one season at Southern Miss last year, Chachere was at Arizona from 2009-11 as wide receivers coach.
Yenser follows Dykes from his former job, spending the past three years at Louisiana Tech as an offensive line assistant. This upcoming season will be just the fifth Yenser has spent coaching at the collegiate level.
Yenser is the fifth former Bulldog assistant to join Dykes at Cal.
