Not retained after the Great Gene Chizik Purge at Auburn last November, Curtis Luper has, finally, landed on his coaching feet.
Luper was one of two additions to Gary Patterson‘s coaching staff announced by TCU Wednesday, with the other being DeMontie Cross. Luper will replace Trey Haverty as wide receivers coach, while Cross will take over the linebacking unit previously manned by Randy Shannon.
Shannon left the Horned Frogs late last month for a job on Bret Bielema‘s Arkansas staff while Haverty moved to Texas Tech.
Lauded as one of the top recruiters in the country while at Auburn, Luper spent the past four seasons as the Tigers’ running backs coach and recruiting coordinator. Luper also has experience in the Big 12, serving as Oklahoma State’s running backs coach from 2005-08.
Cross spent the past two seasons at Kansas (2012) and Wisconsin (2011) after being an assistant with the Buffalo Bills from 2006-10.
