OK, it’s not exactly Les Miles territory, but still.

Fresh off a four-win increase over his previous two seasons, Dan Enos and Central Michigan have reached agreement on a new deal for the third-year head coach, the school announced Thursday.  The new four-contract supersedes his previous deal while adding another year.

Enos is now signed through the 2016 season.

“This agreement recognizes the success Dan and his staff had on the field and in the classroom this year,” said athletic director Dave Heeke. “I have high expectations for our program and appreciate the resolve Dan has shown in building this program. His vision, dedication for excellence, and commitment to doing things the right way have helped this team to be positioned for continued success.”

While the release stated that Enos’ new contract includes an increase in base salary and enhancements to a list of potential performance bonuses. no financial specifics were released.  In 2012, Enos earned $325,600.

After a pair of three-win seasons to begin his CMU tenure, Enos’ Chippewas won seven games.  The Chips won five of their last six games, including a bowl win over Western Kentucky.

“I am very excited about the next chapter of CMU football,” said Enos. “Leading this team and maintaining the great traditions and legacy of Chippewa football is a great responsibility and privilege. I’m honored to have the opportunity to work with such an excellent group of young men and to strive together for continued success in the classroom and on the football field.”

I’ve been a little disappointed in the Enos era, but last year was an improvement. Let’s just hope it continues. I don’t ever expect to contend for anything significant, but the Brian Kelly/Butch Jones years were fun.

I wish him all the luck in the world – except against WMU!
