One of Mark Helfrich‘s first moves as Oregon’s new head coach is dismissing a player, apparently.
The university sent out a release on Saturday announcing that Helfrich has booted redshirt sophomore defensive back James Scales for -- what else? -- an unspecified violation of team rules.
Scales played sparingly in 2011 and 2012, recording six tackles in both years. He probably wouldn’t have played a lot in 2013 either as the Ducks are set in the secondary with the likes of Ifo Ekpre-Olomu and Avery Patterson, who should be back after sustaining a torn ACL late in the season.
