Illini reportedly lose coach to North Carolina

A week ago, Florida dipped into South Carolina’s coaching staff for a new defensive line coach to replace Dan Quinn, the defensive coordinator who left for the same job with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Gamecocks responded by swiping a North Carolina assistant to fill their vacancy.  Reportedly, the Tar Heels are now on the verge of plugging their coaching hole with one of the more respected defensive assistants in the Big Ten.

According to Rivals.com, and citing multiple sources, UNC has hired Keith Gilmore as its new defensive line coach.  Gilmore would come to the Tar Heels from Illinois after spending the past four seasons with the Illini.

Obviously, neither schools involved in the report have confirmed the move.

Prior to his time with the Illini, Gilmore spent two seasons with Cincinnati.  Gilmore will replace Deke Adams, who had been with UNC head coach Larry Fedora for the past four seasons.
