My bad. Thanks for pointing out the mistake–and I didn’t say he was a bad coach. I said he was one of the top 5 or 6, but as long as Saban is still coaching, he’s simply not the best..and there’s others that did a comparable job to Snyder.

Darn kind of the Kansas Jayhawks to help pay the salary of Kansas State’s coach. You just don’t see that much these days. /sarcasm

The fact they got “smoked” without a doubt was impacted by the fact they don’t get anywhere near the quality of players the top programs get. Or do you think coaching ability can totally overcome the fact a team has zero 5 star recruits while the opponents have tons of them?

I’m not a K-State fan, but I’ve watched them from a distance and I agree with those above who posted what a good coach and person he seems to be. You’ve never heard of the NCAA beating a path to his door. And going from 4 winning seasons in 53 years to a perennially ranked team is pretty remarkable.

Personally, I hope the guy lives to be a million and coaches the entire time. All the accolades he’s gotten are very obviously well-earned. He’s revered locally and K-State’s administrative were smart to reward him for the loyalty he’s shown them and the fan support for their program he’s generated. Congratulations, Coach Snyder.

He is certainly one of the best coaches in college football and the coaching job he did at K-State may be the best coaching turnaround in history. When he got there in 1989 K-State had 4 winning seasons in the previous 53 years. Five years later he had them ranked in the top 20 for 8 straight years.

Seriously? You can’t honestly believe this. There’s no denying what he did this year was astounding, but there’s also a reason why when the chips were down his team got smoked.

I’d say he’s probably the 5th or 6th best coach at best. Here’s hoping his health holds out–that’s a big commitment by Kansas.

If he was at a Alabama, or USC he would win the most championships in history.

But he has too much class and loyalty to be a Kiffen or a Saban

Bill Snyder is an incredible coach. Kansas State was the biggest laughing stock in college football when he took over in 1989 and the minute he left it started floundering.

This guy gets more out of JC players and 2-3 star talent than anyone in the NCAA.

Coach Snyder is one of the best of the best, the top elite in coaching on the college level and a living legend for what he already has done at K-State. If he wants a 5 year extension, give it to him (and glad K-State did!) He will be even “younger” when that extension expires and maybe another one after that! How ever long he wants to work, let him!

Glad to see the president and AD are supportive and him that well-deserved vote of confidence.
