Three weeks after surprisingly wresting defensive coordinator Ted Roof away from Penn State, Georgia Tech has added another coach to the defensive side of the ball.
Head coach Paul Johnson confirmed Wednesday that he has hired Mike Pelton as his new defensive line coach.
Pelton will replace Andy McCollum, who will now serve as Tech’s linebackers coach. Joe Speed had served as LBs coach; Speed and Roof will now share duties as defensive backs coach.
Pelton spent the past two seasons at his alma mater Auburn, where he also coached the line. He’s also served on staffs at, among others, Vanderbilt (2010) and Iowa State (2007-08).
