Mike Blakely leaving Auburn; USF a transfer possibility

In May of 2011, and after coming in as an early enrollee, Mike Blakely decided to transfer from Florida and ultimately landed at Auburn.

Less than two years later, the running back is reportedly on the move again.

According to AuburnSports.com, and confirmed by an AU spokesperson, Blakely is no longer enrolled at Auburn and will transfer to another football program.  The website reports that USF could be a potential transfer destination; after leaving Florida, the Bulls were one of the schools that were rumored to be of interest to the back.

Blakely sat out the 2011 season after his appeal to the NCAA for a waiver that would’ve allowed him to play immediately was denied.  As a redshirt freshman in 2012, Blakely was third on the team in rushing with 153 yards.

Rivals.com had Blakely rated as the No. 6 RB in the country for the 2011 recruiting class.

Yes please. A kid like this would put up monster numbers in a Taggart offense. I was teased by Ely earlier this week and hope this doesn’t play out the same way.

Auburn still has a good back with Mason and 4 star recruit Payne already signed.Recruiting not over so i dont see Auburn hurting by the loss of Blakely and still being able to recruit another good back by signing day.He transfers from Florida to Auburn and now transfers again imo Blakely has other things on his mind then the NFL and a nice contract.

kozbee it unfortunately looks like you’re correct about Blakely. His coach at Manatee High says that he thinks Blakely is done with football. Auburn can replace 4-star talent, but USF can’t.

Wherever he transfers maybe a team can get him on the path to the NFL,hate seeing a good player going to waste.Blakely is a good back and hope he finds what hes looking for.
