Wazzu WR busted for allegedly trying to smuggle booze in his pants

If there were ever two things that didn’t mix well, it’s an offseason with too much time to kill and Pullman, Wash. In that spirit, we bring you the following.

(We can do alcohol-related plays on words from Tequila Sunrise to sunset, you guys.)

Not one week after Washington State running back Leon Brooks was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, Cougars wide receiver Drew Loftus was also busted by police for attempting to lift two bottles of tequila from a local grocery store. By shoving them down his pants.

From the Daily Evergreen:

Dissmore’s employees noticed the tequila in his pants. The manager blocked him from exiting the store and notified police.

Loftus then attempted to return the tequila to the shelf, but Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said it was too late.

“You can’t get more possession than shoving it down your pants,” Tennant said.

And boom goes the dynamite.

Loftus was hit with charges of third-degree theft, minor in possession of alcohol and public intoxication. Wazzu has yet to comment on the matter and what, if any, punishment Loftus may face is unknown.

As a redshirt freshman in 2012, Loftus had one catch for 37 yards.
