Four-star Tide RB commit’s jaw broken in locker-room scuffle

If Tyren Jones is to make a public announcement on his college of choice Wednesday, he may be forced to utilize some sort of prop. Or sign language.

According to the Marietta Daily Journal, and citing a source close to the situation, the touted Georgia high school running back suffered a broken jaw during a locker-room fight Friday night. Other than Jones not throwing a punch during the brouhaha, there were no details of what led to or who was involved in the altercation.

Jones is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday, the Daily Journal reported, to repair the damage to his jaw, which was reportedly broken in two places.

While Jones verbally committed to Alabama last February, the paper notes that he has “mild interest” in Georgia and is thus considered by some to be a soft verbal to the Tide.

A four-star recruit according to the three major recruiting services, Jones is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 11 running back in the country. He’s also rated as the No. 5 player in the state of Georgia.
