11inthebox says:
I will stick by my assessment that these kids are drama queens. Yes, the press obsesses over them, as well as many college coaches to the point of being sickening, but all too many fans do as well. Maybe times were indeed different than when I was a 17 or 18 year old kid, but you know what, we still honored our word when we made a promise then. I guess it must have been our upbringing.
I am not saying that they will be humbled in college as I guess you miss the point of what I was saying. What I am saying is this is the last day, for them to enjoy the notoriety of their high school play and now they will be competing on the field against kids, with a much higher level of talent than they previously faced and they will have their work cut out for them. Their opponent is usually going to have a fair amount of talent when he lines up across from them, so for some, it will come as a big surprise.

@ woebegong who says:

One drama queen down and ten more to go. This is probably the best thing about this years recruiting classes. Finally, these kids will make a decision and have to stand by it. Now if Foster stays true to his latest verbal, the two biggest queens of all will be out of the way, and fans can concentrate on the players that will really shape a teams fortunes for the next couple of years. No more talk after today as now, these kids will have to prove it on the football field, and not against high school players. I think more than a few of them, will soon realize that they have to earn their stripes on the field against much better competition, and against guys that do not care what they did in high school. I suspect, no matter what some did in high school, they are in for a big surprise in college.
------------------------------------------------------

Your use of the term “drama queen” is interesting. We pay attention to every move these kids make. High School games are nationally broadcast on Espn, for god sakes.

Then, after the season these kids not only hold press conferences, but people actually televise those press conferences just to find out where they’re going.

But you—and I suspect many others like you—expect all of this attention should make these adolescent boys something other than adolescent boys with an inflated view of importance. Then you just can’t wait for them to be “humbled” in college.

I guess I just don’t get “fans” like you.

Hugh Freeze and the Ole Miss (I have a habit of saying Rebs) team are doing extraordinarily well in recruiting this season. There will be great pressure on the program over the next few years, but this is welcome to this program. Hope they can translate this success to success on the field in every game but against LSU. In that game, tradition must triumph, and in that LSU game it must be "Go to h-----l, Ole Miss!"
