Jimbo Fisher has been able to recruit stellar defensive talent to Florida State in recent years. That trend continued on National Signing Day with the addition of linebacker Matthew Thomas out of Booker T. Washington High School (Fla.).
Thomas chose the Seminoles on ESPNU’s coverage of signing day over Alabama, Georgia, hometown Miami and USC.
Thomas is rated as the nation’s No. 2 linebacker prospect and No. 15 overall prospect, according to Rivals.com.
Among the other notable recruits to already sign with FSU today are defensive end DeMarcus Walker, defensive back Marquez White and linebacker Freddie Stevenson. All are rated as four-star prospects by Rivals.

Academics.
That is a rumor at this point. They thought that about AJ Leggett when he committed to Marshall instead of Miami and it turns he was qualified.
Seriously, am I the only one that thinks Signing Day in college football is ridiculous?

catfanatic979v1: This isn’t conjecture—it was academics.
Jumbo Fisher is a class act. He is a genuine recruiter, and allows character to play a larger role in his decision-making than most others. (Richt is another good guy).
