Purdue’s Hazell adds another assistant

The last hire Purdue coach Darrell Hazell made was picking up John Shoop as the team’s offensive coordinator. Now, he’s hired another piece that nearly completes his coaching staff with the acquisition of Marshall wide receivers coach Gerad Parker.

Parker confirmed to Huntington Herald-Dispatch that he would be the Boilermakers’ tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator. Purdue later announced the hire in a release.

“This is a chance to do something I’ve never done before,” Parker told the paper. “I like the challenge of coaching a new position and I’ve always stepped up to challenges. I have dreams and aspirations of being an offensive coordinator and a head coach one day, and this will help me toward those goals.”

Hazell still has to hire a defensive line coach to complete his coaching staff.
