last year, UGA rb Isiah Crowell was arrested on a gun charge by carrying a gun in a car he was driving with a scratched off serial number. Crowell was a true freshman starter at rb for Georgia and Coach Mark Richt threw him off the team. Crowell is now at Alabama State.

in 2009, former Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin had to suspend, and eventually kicked off highly recruited freshmen in Nukese Richardson, Janzen Jackson and Mike Edwards for an attempted armed robbery of two UT students. Jackson was a true freshman starter, and eventually went home to Lake Charles La to play at McNeese St….he entered the pro draft last year as a junior and did not get picked. Richardson transferred to Morgan St, then left, and is now at his fourth college after saying he was going to “retire” from football.

Les Miles kicked the honey badger, Tyron Mathieu off the LSU team for repeated team violation and failing a drug test(s) due to his use of syndicated marijuana. Mathieu was a first team all American as a sophomore in 2011 and was a bigtime playmaker for LSU…his suspension and eventual release from LSU sent shockwaves through the college football world in August of 2012.

One thing I find troubling is the fact that a lot of these young men, most of them being black, who grew up on the wrong side of the railroad tracks, have been given an oppurtunity to get ahead in life with a free college education, and if they are good enough, they could possibly go pro. For some reason, trouble continues to find these young men all around the country…..This isnt just an issue in the SEC or Big 12 or Big 10, this is a national epidemic.

I hope it works out for these players, through community service and possible expungement from their records, but Nick Saban will probably have to release all four of them out of the program or he will be accused of condoning this type of behaivor in his program.

I read a story last week that 43% of the black males in Alabama were disqualified from voting because of criminal records, and if you know what black folks went through during jim crow and civil rights era to gain the right to vote, this is just shocking and sad.

This is definitely not good news for Saban and Bama. Two arrests…get this guy gone!
