Ex-Illinois co-OC reportedly headed to Wisconsin

A weak offensive showing in 2012 that had Illinois rank last in the Big Ten in both points (16.7) and total offense (296.7 yards) resulted in Illini co-offensive coordinator Chris Beatty being shown the door by first-year coach Tim Beckman.

It did not, however, take long for Beatty to land another coaching job. The Wisconsin State Journal and Tom Dienhart of the Big Ten Network are reporting that Beatty will be Wisconsin’s new wide receivers coach under Gary Andersen.

The hire would complete Andersen’s coaching staff. An official announcement is expected soon.

Illinois has since replaced Beatty with former Western Michigan coach Bill Cubit. Billy Gonzales, who also served as Illinois’ co-OC before being reassigned to wide receivers, has landed at Mississippi State in the same capacity.
