As of late last week, former FIU head coach and current Miami assistant Mario Cristobal was among those considered for Alabama’s vacant offensive line coaching job. Apparently, he’s now the favorite.
The news comes just over a month after Cristobal was named Miami’s associate (to the) head coach and tight ends coach. Cristobal was fired from FIU last year following a 3-9 season. He went 27-47 with FIU, but orchestrated a strong turnaround that saw back-to-back winning seasons in 2010 and ’11.
If/when the news becomes official, Cristobal would replace Jeff Stoutland, who joined the Philadelphia Eagles’ staff under new coach Chip Kelly.
