APGood publicity or bad publicity, Oklahoma State football reached a new level of familiarity in 2007 when Cowboys coach Mike Gundy went on his famous “I’m a man! I’m 40!” rant.
Just in case anyone forgot about it, here’s the video courtesy of ESPN:
The subject of that rant was Bobby Reid, a quarterback who started 18 games for Oklahoma State before being demoted and later transferring to Texas Southern. Now, he’s back with OSU in a administrative position, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.
In a 2008 story featured in ESPN The Magazine, Reid said was incredulous of Gundy’s rant over an Oklahoman article written about the quarterback.
“Our relationship after that kind of faded away,” Reid said. ”When that rant happened, I was like, ‘Blugggh, I don’t think this is for me anymore.’”
Really? That’s why you figured it wasn’t for you anymore? You sure it wasn’t your lack of talent?
Him defending you caused you to bail? Weird
He got his mommy to come out in the media and put the coach down after Gundy’s rant.
Hopefully he and his mommy both have developed some sort of accountability, responsibility, and values since then. Gundy deserves an apology.
They let it go. Good for them…even now, Gundy’s Rant is still pretty epic.
