Following a two-year investigation (that publicly crumbled within the last month thanks to some rather blatant “missteps” from members of its enforcement staff), the NCAA finally handed its Notice of Allegations to Miami yesterday.
The Hurricanes aren’t alone, as allegations of numerous and lavish impermissible benefits originally reported by Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports mentioned both former players and coaches.
Among those individuals to also receive a NOA from the NCAA related to the Miami investigation include current Missouri and former Miami basketball coach Frank Haith, and now, former Hurricanes football assistant and current Louisville assistant Clint Hurtt (pictured left).
Exactly what is contained in Hurtt’s NOA hasn’t been revealed by Louisville --t he AP is reporting that Hurtt is accused of misleading the NCAA’s probe -- although no alleged violations took place at UL.
Hurtt’s connection to former Miami booster Nevin Shapiro consists of the coach -- allegedly -- arranging a trip for UM recruits to Shapiro’s mansion, as well as receiving a $5,000 loan from Shapiro.
Miami is a private institution and not required to release its NOA, but university president Donna Shalala did take the opportunity to drag the NCAA through the coals in an open letter responding to the allegations.
