Texas LB ruled out of spring practice, Jeffcoat limited

While Texas kicked off its set of 15 spring practices Thursday, they did so without an experienced member of both its offense and defense.

Head coach Mack Brown revealed yesterday that linebacker Demarco Cobbs will miss the whole of spring practice as he continues to recover from a knee injury.  Cobbs suffered the injury in the 11th game of the 2012 season and missed the remainder of the year.

It’s unclear whether the rehab will impact his availability for the start of summer camp.

Cobbs started six of the 11 games in which he played last season as a true junior, and was credited with 35 tackles on the year.  Since coming to the Longhorns as a four-star member of their 2010 recruiting class, Cobbs has played in 29 games.

Another starter, guard Trey Hopkins, will be sidelined for all of spring practice as well.  The offensive lineman started the first 12 games last year before he was shelved by a stress fracture in his right leg.

Additionally, starting defensive lineman Jackson Jeffcoat will be limited during the spring.  Jeffcoat ruptured a pectoral muscle in mid-October last year and missed the remainder of the season.

I listened to Mack’s presser yesterday. Seems they are gonna be innovative and run hurry-up offense next year.

This will be awesome, as it will lead to much quicker 3 and outs.

I meant texas not a team from texas, smartass

Not mentioned in this article, is that both players(Cobbs and Jeffcoat) will be appering physically in the classroom and not taking online classes!!(only made National Media). Oops, guess the guys at CFT didn’t catch wind of John Manziel’s choice of class preference! Lastly, Goodfieldnoshit, aGGie hasn’t be relevant in YEARS, you squeeze out the fifth best record in your conference and you type like you guys just won the National Championship! Funny thing is, you are affraid to announce that you actually live in Austin, Tx.

“aGGie hasn’t be relevant in YEARS”

    Apparently, these things are irrelevant:
    -Fifth in the nation
-Beating this year’s national champ on their turf
    -First freshman Heisman winner
-11 wins 2 losses in college football’s premier conference
-Destroying the Big 12 Co-Champ to end the season (admittedly, the Big Co-Champ wasn’t very good)

Keep trying. You’re bound to convince someone.

people are so high on aTm because they beat bama. don’t get me wrong, that’s one of the biggest wins all season but I don’t think they’ll be in a nccg with sumlin OR manziel.

  8. scalpemseminoles says: Feb 22, 2013 12:56 PM

if they hadn’t had such a good first quarter against bama, they’d have lost and we wouldn’t even be talking about them.

  9. mikefoxtrottango says: Feb 22, 2013 12:59 PM

    the first quarter counts

    great analysis, though…

If my aunt Millie had balls she’d be my uncle Bill.

Yes, I live in Austin. I love Austin, it’s a great city, and let’s me get the most out of degree from Texas A&M.

Who is gonna be the next Longhorn coach to win the can’t keep his dick in his pants sweepstakes?

So it’s stats you want eh?? Here’s a stat I want you never to forget Mike the Fox:

Texas and Aggie played 118 times
Aggie record in those games was……….wait for it, wait for it, wait for it………………………………………

37-76-5….with the last of the 76 losses coming in their final match up!!!

We call that SCOREBOARD you hosers!!

  12. goodfieldnohit says: Feb 22, 2013 3:38 PM

Every Aggie in the world wants you guys to keep Mack Brown as head coach forever.

    That should tell you something.

He’s lazy, and the game has passed him by.

When is the next Jordan Hicks/Case McCoy porno film coming out?

  13. tgaustin says: Feb 22, 2013 3:50 PM

Lazy???????????The same time as John Manziel’s next arrest! Awwwww, poblacita, that last stat stings a bit doesn’t it Sorryturfnoshit!

“So it’s stats you want eh??”

    You’ve changed the subject.

This is the sign of someone who has lost an argument.

An article posted about the mighty Longhorns has turned into a discussion about the Aggies.

So, again, convince us that “aGGie hasn’t be relevant in YEARS”.

This is fun. We’re laughing at you.

  15. tgaustin says: Feb 22, 2013 4:02 PM

Mike”clueless”tangowhatever??? You threw out the stats first delta bravo. Second, your cousin/brother/uncle Goodsh!t wishes he was a Longhorn for life so he rips the Horn nation every chance he gets. Third, once again, you had ONE SINGLE good year in the last twenty…hence the saying, “you haven’t been relevant in years”!

  16. mikefoxtrottango says: Feb 22, 2013 4:34 PM

“aGGie hasn’t be relevant in YEARS”

We were relevant in 2012. I obliterated your assertion.

    Please stop typing.

  17. goodfieldnohit says: Feb 22, 2013 4:45 PM

    tgaustin –

You’re 12, right? Clever name calling.

Tell all of us on this board that you wouldn’t want Johnny Manziel on your team.

Mack didn’t want him. Didn’t want RGIII either.

Enjoy your sense of entitlement, it’s costing you respect and football games.
