From a UM fan.

Now they have certainly botched the UM case. Why? Because there was so much pressure. The Yahoo story which was shotty journalism almost entirely based on one very questionable source...questionable in reputation and motive. That story was picked up and run by major news organizations.

When the NCAA didn't have a response worthy of the hype, they pushed the limits and botched things by forcing people to testify under oath in the felon's bankruptcy hearing, then paying the felon's lawyer to do the questions.

The pressure was to great to meet the hype.

There needs to be an NCAA enforcement though. Emmert may need to go, but to hear cheaters like Pete Carrol (see Benny K's daily one liners) whining about the NCAA is really annoying.

UM had cheaters, they punished themselves and the athletes who cheated. They may still get hit.

But USC, UNC, OSU, FSU and others in recent history have no complaint.

PSU fans really shouldn't talk either cuz that is the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in college football....PERIOD.

The complaint should be that those cheating aren't caught often enough. The SEC is so systemically corrupt and tight lipped that Yahoo or others may never get into that mess....it is probably dangerous for them.

The complaint also could be that players should get a stipend. Add up all D 1 players, add up all revenue, take a percent of it and divide it by the number of athletes...pay them something.

Universities make millions off "amatuer athletes" and coaches like Saban make multi million a year.

So the NCAA botched things....but cheating still needs to be stopped.

I certianly don't wanna hear Pete Carroll whine!

Go Canes!

I presume that the Exec. committee didn't check out Public Opinion polls since the Polls don't mean anything to this high-powered team. Well, just FYI - Mr. RS Means - With 90% of the Public Opinion voters, they all said that Mr. Emmert needs to be booted and that he runs a shoddy NCAA team of bandits.
Not sure why Mr. Means says that Emmert has been the best NCAA president ever, so, to WHOM are we comparing to Emmert?
Also, you're downgrading the average football fan and some media being slow ones high achievers will always have distractors'?? There ARE MANY distractors. Where did those statements come from? From left field or the 9 yard line? You, yourself sound like a judjmental, pompous, Pillsbury Doughboy who likes to put-down others. You and Mark would get along just fine. LOL! Many writers (not just here - but in many sports-writing venues) feel Emmert (who has totally messed up his crew - firing Julie Roe Lach, firing others, watching a few quit on him, and now bringing on an entourage of 6-7 more that he can bully.
Emmert reminds me of a younger Roman Pope, and a modern day Adolf Hitler. Unfortunately the coaches or A.D.'s of the many universities didn't get to vote on Emmert's nomination - but just the Executive Committee - so, we're stuck with him. Guess we'll see more Dictatorial slaughters of more university programs from this tyrant. Ugh!
 Any more comments are welcome.
