Arizona State dismisses offensive line coach

Normally this time of year when there is a staff change, it’s the result of an assistant moving from one program to another.

In the case of Arizona State, however, it’s a rare February dismissal that’s created at least a temporary opening.

According to the Arizona Republic, Sun Devils head coach Todd Graham has dismissed offensive line coach Bob Connelly. No reason for the abrupt dismissal was given, and the school has not yet confirmed the move.

Thomsen was hired in December of 2011 and lasted just one season with the Sun Devils.

The paper reports that it’s likely running backs coach Chris Thomsen will assume the line duties. Thomsen was hired away from Texas Tech in the middle of last month.

A final determination of roles, however, won’t be made until Graham makes a hire.
