Tide’s White House trip set for next week

One of myriad perks in winning the BCS championship is the opportunity to take a trip to visit with the most powerful man in the world and take a tour of his house.

And, for the third time in four years, Alabama is getting set to do just that.

The White House announced Thursday that President Barack Obama will welcome the 2012 BCS champs next Wednesday, March 6, at 2:05 p.m. ET, likely in the Rose Garden.

“The President will also continue his tradition of honoring sports teams for their efforts both on and off the field by recognizing the efforts by the Crimson Tide to give back to their community,” the release stated.

This will actually mark head coach Nick Saban‘s fourth trip to the White House as he took his LSU team to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue after winning the 2003 BCS championship. At last year’s White House event, the POTUS stated he wished Saban “best of luck next season,” adding, “who knows, I may see you again.”
