If FSU plays a good Div 1 team, their own fanbase will fill the stadium up, especially if we are winning up to that point in the season. Also, it is betterto play a good team that you have little familiarity with later in the season if your team is the better, when your team is in its groove it has less chance of being stunned early by a team that has been able to prepare all preseason for just your school. This way Boise will have to work FSU into its practice schedule like any other school.
Lastly, there is alot at stake when FSU, UF, or UM play UCF or USF. Those schools are trying to break out of their little brother status. Much better to play an equally hard team that doesnt recruit your same geographic region. With those in state schools if you beat them, who cares, you just beat UCF or USF, if you lose, your season is irreperably damaged and they may get a recruiting bump in a state already cutthroat in recruiting.

I just know FSU has some attendance issues. I know from a TV perspective, USF/UCF and FSU is not as big of a draw as Boise State. But in terms of getting butts in the stands, I just make the logical argument that fans from Tampa and Orlando are more likely to make the trip than Boise State fans. I’m betting, though, that USF and UCF are as good as Boise State by 2019/2020.

Does FSU really need fans to come from Boise to sell this game out? I honestly have no idea what the attendance is like at FSU games but I would think their fans would show up for this game.

The national audience will be alot more interested in this game than they would be see FSU play UCF or USF.

We just posted this, but here’s the article on CFT. I’m in the “this makes no sense” camp, especially 6 games down the road. I’d rather see a game against USF or UCF. Fans from Boise are not traveling to Tallahassee. Fans in Orlando and Tampa would travel to Tallahassee. Boise might be a quality opponent in 2019 but I don’t see this helping game day revenues.

Lets look at what happened last year, FSU had two div 1 (yes i still call it that) teams on their schedule going into the year, and both dropped them, Auburn being the most significant one. This forced FSU to replace them with the only teams willing to agree to it, which were two div II teams.

FSU needs to schedule DIV 1 schools who wont chicken out like Auburn, Boise state is willing to sign the agreement with huge breaking penalties, so this is a win win for both schools.

As long as the coach stays Boise will be good. I give FSU a lot of credit for scheduling a home and home with these guys. Oregon did it and got beat twice!

sure boise is a decent name now, but will they be in 6 years?

One thing I get from this is that Boise and FSU will probably not be in the big 12 together in 2019.

Just shows how much the FSU star has fallen. Boise State is just another mediocre “ACC” team.
