Report: Seferian-Jenkins cited for drunk driving

The vague “incident” to which Washington referred when it came to star player Austin Seferian-Jenkins? Unfortunately, it reportedly involves the words “drunk” and “driving.”

Citing school and law enforcement sources, the Seattle Times reports that the tight end was cited for drunk driving late Saturday night. Seferian-Jenkins, two police sources told the paper, was the driver of a vehicle which contained several individuals that was pulled over for unknown reasons.

The stop occurred around 11:30 p.m. local time, although a police spokesperson would only state on the record “that Seferian-Jenkins was among several people in the vehicle whose names were run by officers.”

In his statement on the incident, head coach Steve Sarkisian said in part that the player “made decisions that fall short of our expectations for student-athletes who represent the University of Washington.”

Seferian-Jenkins is the school’s career leader for tight ends in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns, and is widely viewed as a first-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
