Boise State schedules Troy for future home-and-home

Chris Petersen AP

Hey, they can’t all be non-conference matchups with Florida State-type programs, right?

Anyway, Boise State announced Tuesday a future home-and-home series with Sun Belt Conference member Troy.  The Trojans will visit Bronco Stadium on Sept. 2, 2017, with returning the favor with a trip to Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Ala., on Sept. 1, 2018.

“This is another marquee matchup that is exciting for both our fans and our football program,” Troy athletic director John Hartwell said in a statement. “Boise State has been one of the most successful teams in the country recently and this series will further enhance Troy’s image in the national football spotlight. It is important to our football program to schedule these types of games and we will continue to seek out series like this and the one with Duke in the future.”

In the past few years, the likes of Mississippi State, Missouri and Oklahoma State have made the trek to Troy as non-conference opponents.

The 2017 game Boise State-Troy game will mark the first meeting between the two football programs.

Since when is a game scheduled between Boise and TROY a news worthy announcement? Slow night on the college football front?

When did BSU join the SEC? With all of this conference realignment, it’s hard to keep track.

You’re JT, sitting at your computer, looking for the last post of the day. You realize everyone is focused on NFL free agency. So, you decide to go with this.

To me, the Bob Costas story about his changing his mind about PSU and the Freeh report might have generated a bit more interest.

We lost Jermaine Bushrod who bolted in free agency to Chicago where he will paid (or overpaid) quite a bit. Brees now a a big breeze on his blind side. Payton and crew will have to move quickly to shore up this big gap, hopefully in the free agency market.

I could have sworn there were two mosquitos fluttering around while all this free agency stuff is going on, trying to distract us….oh well…SWAT!

Another move by Boise that will guarantee them a mediocre athletic program.

    “But we finished undefeated!”

But your big out-of-conference game was Troy. All that will get you is an “Attaboy” and a participant ribbon.

Oh Boise State, you are so cute. “Look over here, we have blue turf,” You keep trying you short bus riding, want-to-be big boy school.
