Beavers DB gets sixth season of eligibility

An appeal to the NCAA has netted an Oregon State defensive back another season of college football.

The NCAA, OSU announced, has granted a medical hardship waiver to Steve Christian (pictured, No. 29), which gives the player a sixth season of eligibility. Christian missed all of the 2009 and 2011 seasons at Hawaii due to a labrum injury, factors which allowed the additional season to be granted by the NCAA.

Christian transferred from Hawaii to Oregon State last June.

“I’ve grown real close to many of my teammates even though it hasn’t been a full year,” the defensive back said in a statement. “Having the opportunity to be a part of Beaver Nation for one more season will yield an even greater experience.”

In his first season with the Beavers, Christian played in seven games. he was permitted to play immediately as he had already graduated from Hawaii.
