Dave Hart says his focus is on Vols, not vacant AD job at Alabama

Alabama athletic director Mal Moore announced he was stepping down Wednesday afternoon because of ongoing health problems. His vacancy will now surely be one of the most sought-after jobs in college sports as Alabama begins its search for Moore’s successor immediately.

One person to cross off that list, or so he says, is Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart.

My focus is purely here. My total focus is on continuing to be privileged to serve as vice chancellor and director of athletics at Tennessee,” Hart said in a radio interview with WNML in Knoxville.

Perhaps Hart isn’t even the favorite to succeed Moore, but his name certainly popped up quickly. And it made sense why. Like Moore, Hart has deep ties to Alabama as a graduate and former executive director of athletics.

For now though, it appears Hart won’t be an option.
