I have no idea how long he will coach. He seems like a high every guy, especially for his age. Its total speculation on my part about an AD career.

On a side note, I’m looking forward to see how coach Jones does in his first year. The more I read about him, the more I think he can turn UT around.

Saw posts on here about Saban taking the AD job when he retires. How old is Saban? Surely he isn’t old enough to think about retiring.

normtide I couldn’t help but to chuckle when I saw your statement re Saban doesn’t compromise very well. You’re learnin about him. Fact is he doesn’t. He has a Type A personality but tries to hide it. L’il does he know he’s not doin such a good job of it. Now if a few others would just recognize him for what he is things would be easier to cope with. You keep learnin and you keep me smilin with what you’re learnin I’ll have to buy you a drink or 2,hahaha.

I can’t disagree. I’ve been around long enough, and earned enough grey hair, to know that somethings are improbable, but nothing is impossible. The man has won four BCS titles and returned two programs to elite status. All due to hard work. My opinion is that anything he does, he will do well.

Keep fighting the good fight, brother. Looking forward to another great game between our ‘damn strong’ football teams.

That is why I called it convoluted, based upon the same reasoning as you used. ha. Stranger things have happened, though. Don’t count him out. If he is able to add to his legacy, even a little, much less another NC, he may be able to write his own and punch his own ticket to anything in the state of Alabama.

It was well known if Bear had wanted the governorship or US Senator he would have won and would have the financial backing to get there.

I am doing as you stated. I have to do that more nowadays, ha with more white hairs coming on! My precious and beautiful bride of all these years told me she could make my hair any color I wanted. I did not understand her at first, but when she explained, I said to the love of my life, “Get away from me woman, I have earned every one of these white hairs!” ha.

Honestly SP, politics would never be Saban’s thing. He doesn’t compromise very well lol. Same for university pres. I can see him succeeding at athletic director though. Only time will tell. I’m sure he will have options when he does hang up the whistle.

suprmous: Thank you. I think they got a fine man as well. He promised to continue the initiatives of his predecessor and was greatly recommended by Mal Moore, so it is the best choice for them at this time.

bamasleeper13: Thank you. It is good to be back, albeit a short time, maybe through the LSU Spring Game, then “road burning” again. I think you got it right.

normtide: That is what our friends there think. There is also a convoluted thought that Nick Saban may be offered the presidency if and once he retires. Several have offered to underwrite his candidacy for U.S. Senate, but like I stated, those are convoluted thoughts at this time.

Given his age, there is some reporters speculating that Battle is holding the seat for either Newsome or a retired Saban. Coach has stated he wouldn’t want to coach and be AD, but didn’t close three book on it, once retired from coaching. Ozzie has proven he can run an organization. I think Saban will excel in whatever he does, and can see Smart becoming coach. Won’t complain either way. But, getting ahead of myself. Lets get ROLLing AD Battle.

After the failed experiment of Bob Bockwrath, who was an outsider with no connections to Alabama, we didn’t need that again. We needed someone who understood Alabama and what athletics mean here. We also don’t need or want another Andrew “Bowtie Man” Sorenson or Joab Thomas as school President.

Hello, southernpatriots, My Friend good to see you again. Who else would they choose but a protege of the Bear’s? They’ve gotta stick to somebody within the “family” because an outsider wouldn’t know what was expected, n’est pas? I’ve gotta feelin that Mr. Bill’s gonna work out just fine. He may be stuck in a time warp for a while but he’ll come around. Now I’ll just add my congrats to him and say that at least they got somebody honest.

Battle is perfect for Alabama right now. He is a very shrewd business man and will make sure Alabama gets the best deal not can with the new SEC network launching.

That could be the full extent of the contract, since I am sure behind the scenes that Alabama reps are in some form of communication with Ozzie Newsome and that may well be the timing he is thinking about, if he would consider the AD job at Alabama.

Bill Battle will do a good job and continue what Moore has been doing.
