Maryland suspends five-star WR Deon Long

The Deon Long era at Maryland is off to a rocky start.

A five-star member of the Terps’ 2013 recruiting class, Long has been suspended by UM for two weeks for violating university policy -- that, per university spokesperson. Long had arrived on campus this year to begin spring practice with his new team. He is expected to compete for a starting job this year.

It’s been a bit of a rocky road for Long. He originally committed to West Virginia, but ended up at Hargrave Military Academy. He eventually went on to short stints at New Mexico and Iowa Western Community College.

Last year at Iowa Western, Long reeled in 1,626 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns.
