Brady Hoke wants Wolverines forward Mitch McGary at tight end

Michigan’s final four run in men’s basketball has been aided in large part, so to speak, because of forward Mitch McGary. The freshman has come on strong during the Wolverines’ tournament run to become one of the worst matchups for opposing teams.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke thinks McGary could be a nightmare on the football field for opposing defenses too.

I talked to McGary about being a tight end,” Hoke said Tuesday. “I’ll take him in the red zone and just throw the ball up.”

At 6-foot-10, McGary would indeed be a red zone weapon. Of course, there’s a major adjustment McGary would have to make if he even wanted to put on some pads for Wolverines.

The dish on McGary is that he has the work ethic and physicality that could translate into football, but this probably wishful thinking for Hoke.

A coach can wish, though.
