Syracuse WR Kyle Foster ‘no longer part of the program’

Kyle Foster

After missing last season with an injury, Kyle Foster was looking to become a more productive piece of Syracuse’s offensive puzzle.

Instead, the wide receiver is now looking to possibly continue his playing career elsewhere.

First-year ‘Cuse head coach Scott Shafer confirmed in a statement Friday that the 6-3, 207-pound receiver “is no longer part of the program.”  No reason for the parting of ways was given.

A school spokesperson told the Syracuse Post-Standard that Foster is still enrolled in classes at the university.  The paper wrote that “[i]t is not known whether Foster intends to seek a transfer,” although he would have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2013 season if he transfers to an FBS program.

Foster played in seven games as a true freshman in 2011, mainly on special teams.  A “lower-body injury” suffered in late July shelved the Ypsilanti, Mich., native for all of 2012.
