A highly-touted member of Miami’s 2012 recruiting class, Angelo Jean-Louis was an academic non-qualifier and instead enrolled at Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia. In December, the wide receiver surprised many by signing with Marshall.
Now, Jean-Louis has a little more to worry about for the foreseeable future than where or if he will play football in 2013.
As of the time of this post, Jean-Louis is listed as an inmate in West Virginia’s Western Regional Jail after being booked into the facility earlier today. The receiver’s “Imprisonment Status” is listed as “Pre-Trial Felon.”
Specifically, Jean-Louis was charged with two felony counts of fraudulent use of an access device. Derek Redd of the Charleston Daily Mail reports that the charges stem from Jean-Louis allegedly using a stolen credit card twice -- one purchase for $14 and one for $11, both occurring at a local 7-Eleven (smdh).
Bail has been set at $20,000.
“We are aware of his situation. We will handle the matter internally and appropriately,” the school said in a statement.
According to Chuck Landon of the Huntington Herald-Dispatch, Jean-Louis is enrolled at Marshall but is sitting out the spring as an academic non-qualifier.
A Rivals.com four-star recruit, Jean-Louis was one of the highest-rated member of the Hurricanes’ 2012 class. Jean-Louis was the No. 8 athlete in the country according to that recruiting service, and was rated as the No. 22 player at any position in the state of Florida.
