Buffs QB Jordan Webb done for the year with knee injury

As if Colorado needed any more bad news after what’s transpired on the field over the past several years, this happens.

The university released a statement today stating quarterback Jordan Webb has torn his ACL and is done for the 2013 season.

“This is very sad for Jordan,” new coach Mike MacIntyre said. “We all feel for him. He was doing well in practice, competing again for the starting job, and for this to happen and to lose him for the season is just a shame.”

“It’s another obstacle that I have to overcome,” Webb said. “I’ve rebounded from adversity before so this is just another challenge I have to face.”

It’s a tough loss, though Webb was far from being assured the starting QB job for Colorado again this year. Last year, Webb, who transferred from Kansas, threw for 1,434 yards with eight touchdown passes and eight interceptions. Now, Webb will begin the process of trying to secure a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA; Webb redshirted his first year with Kansas (2009).

Coincidentally, and eerily, Webb’s ACL tear happened on the one-year anniversary of Paul Richardson’s exact same injury.
