Ex-Auburn RB now says he wants to play for Alabama

Jovon Robinson, Jake Holland AP

In August of last year, Auburn running back Jovon Robinson was held from preseason practices while the NCAA investigated allegations that his high school transcript was falsified. Less than a week later, he was ruled ineligible after it was discovered that his high school guidance counselor had, in fact, altered his transcript.

Now at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia, Robinson is looking for another chance. Of all places, he’s looking for one with Alabama. From his interview with

“It’s crazy how things work out. Alabama was my first offer, and I wasn’t even thinking about Auburn at that time,” he said. “Auburn was my last offer. Then I went to Auburn, and now, I guess, I’m hoping to go to Alabama.”

The Tide’s recent success is part of his attraction.

“It’s a domination type of deal,” he said. “They’ve been the powerhouse, so, why not? My train of thought is like a powerhouse, so it just fits. It just fits me — even though I didn’t commit there the first time.

“The type of running backs that they want, that’s the type of running back that I am. It’s a good fit for me, and I think it could be a good fit for them.”

The site reports that Robinson won’t be eligible to transfer to a Division 1 program until December, 2014, and it’s not clear if Alabama has reciprocated any interest in Robinson. The 2012 member of Auburn’s recruiting class was considered a four-star back by

Hypothetically, if Robinson did get his wish, it would obviously add another interesting layer to future Iron Bowls.

Alabama is pretty stacked at tail back. I doubt they will he looking for a JC transfer at that position, barring injury of course. Best of luck, wherever he lands.

If he paints himself up like an Oak Tree with toilet paper rolls all over himself, they’ll take him in a heartbeat to use him as a tackling dummy and AJ McCrybaby’s personal coffee getter.

I think ebrown is right. Remember Enrique Davis? At least I think his last name was Davis. While AU can use some more depth at RB, it is not bare bones down there.

Strange how someone mentioned deer antler spray when talking about Alabama when that same article said over 60 players on the 2010 Auburn NC team were involved with deer antler spray. LOL
