Braxton Miller arguably had a case to be a Heisman finalist last year. The Ohio State quarterback is already figured to be on many preseason lists this time around, and while spring games mean nothing in terms of what happens in the fall, Miller got off to a good start in the Buckeyes’ spring game in Cincinnati on Saturday.
“Fundamentally he’s pretty good. When it breaks down, that’s when it starts to go,” head coach Urban Meyer said of Miller. “But he’s much improved. We have to improve everyone around him.”
Miller went 16-of-25 passing for 217 yards and a pair of scores to Devin Smith and Corey Brown.
On defense, freshman Adolphus Washington impressed with four sacks.
“Adolphus Washington has really raised his level of play,” Meyer said. “He’s a legitimate player. You saw him today just have his way with our offensive line at times.”
But mostly, Ohio State’s spring game was run of the mill -- which is a good thing if the top priority is to avoid injuries. Afterward, Meyer joked that the “controversy” with Tiger Woods at The Masters was more interesting than how his team did today.
“That’s probably more interesting than what I’ve got to say,” Meyer remarked.
