Jadeveon Clowney scores a touchdown in South Carolina spring game

South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was, as expected, sidelined for today’s South Carolina spring game because of his mild neck sprain.

That didn’t stop Clowney from seeing the field for one play, though, and giving the crowd what they wanted.

Sprinting from the sidelines without pads or helmet, Clowney caught a touchdown pass. Not only was Clowney down way before getting into the end zone, but the score actually counted because, well, spring football!

Though it was Spring Game football rules, this may be a shadowing of things to come, though with his reach and hands he may well come up with the ball a few times from the opposing QB and with the long strides he has just lope for the goal line.

If Clowney can get and stay well, he will be a player other teams may well want to double or triple team, but by doing so, they will leave other defensive linemen and linebackers a free course into the offensive backfield. Jadeveon will be very hard to block this season with one offensive lineman and even a most running backs.

Best to Jadeveon on his recovery and season.

Too bad JFF can’t spank Jadaveon in real time.

Travis, seriously, do you think anyone, literally any ONE person, goes to your blog to RE-read the same story or same topic? All you RE-blogger @$$clowns really need to rethink your strategy for generating readership. A post like your isn’t working in case you haven’t noticed.

As for Clowney, Carolina will push (hard) for him to win the Heisman if his stats are anything like they were last season. One way to push him over the top will be to get him a couple of offensive TD’s to go along with all the “D” numbers. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him in goal line situations throughout the season, but not targeted for a carry or reception until later in the season, after teams get used to seeing him in there for blocking purposes and forget about him as a potential ball carrier or receiver. That’s when he’ll get the call. When it can have an impact on his Heisman chances.
