A member of the Colorado State football team as well as his girlfriend have both found themselves with some legal issues following an incident late this past week.
Redshirt freshman defensive end Johnny Schupp and 19-year-old CSU student Dawn Rollins, the Fort Collins Coloradoan reports, were arrested early Friday morning by university police after an on-campus “situation.” Schupp and Rollins were charged with one count each of third-degree assault and domestic violence enhancement. Both of those charges are misdemeanors.
Additionally, Schupp was hit with a charge of harassment.
The details of what led to the arrests and charges has not yet been made available. Head coach Jim McElwain is aware of the situation but offered little information in a statement released by the school.
“There was an unfortunate relationship issue involving a member of our football program, Johnny Schupp,” McElwain said. “The nature of the matter is personal to him. We are working with Johnny and with the authorities to provide help to all involved.”
Schupp was a tight end in 2012 as he took a redshirt for his true freshman season. He was moved to the defensive line this spring.
