Surgery knocked Bo Wallace out of the whole of Ole Miss’ spring practice sessions this year, but it appears there’s no chance of the same thing taking place during summer camp.
On the SEC coaches’ post-spring teleconference Wednesday, Hugh Freeze confirmed speculation that the starting quarterback is ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation. After undergoing shoulder surgery in mid-January, it was expected Wallace would be sidelined for a period of 4-6 months.
Now, the quarterback will begin throwing again in roughly 10 days.
“We’re real excited to get him out there and do it ... to do quite a bit early and push it aggressively,” the head coach said.
Wallace, in his first season as the Rebels’ starter, played almost the entire season with the injury. The shoulder issue likely played more than a minor role in the player leading the SEC in interceptions with 17.
