Miami linebacker Gabe Terry was arrested earlier this month on charges of possession of marijuana and resisting arrest without violence. Consequently, he was suspended indefinitely by head coach Al Golden.
That indefinite suspension has officially been labeled as a dismissal. Golden confirmed as much Thursday afternoon.
“Gabe was suspended before the incident and we didn’t take him to the spring game. Gabe is no longer with our football team,” Golden said. “It’s done. Again, I apologize. I don’t know what [information] was released on our end, but he’s no longer with the team. He was suspended before the incident. We’ve separated and moved in another direction.”
The news shouldn’t come as much of surprise; Gabe’s name has been off the Hurricanes’ official roster for a few days. You could easily infer what that meant.
In 2012 as a true freshman, Terry played in seven games, mainly on special teams.
